Switching Between Salesforce Leads and Contacts in Prospect

Updated over a week ago

Prospect gives you the flexibility to create either a Lead or a Contact when pushing new records to Salesforce, depending on how your GTM team prefers to manage Salesforce data.

Here’s how you can switch between creating a Lead and a Contact inside Prospect:

Step-by-step Instructions

  1. Open the Prospect Extension
Start by launching the Prospect tab from your browser, or click the pinned Prospect extension to open the side-panel.

  2. Click the Salesforce Icon
In the top-right corner of the Prospect side-panel, click the Salesforce icon to begin the record creation flow.

  3. Choose Record Type: Lead or Contact
Based on your Salesforce workflow, select whether you'd like to push the record as a Lead or a Contact.

  4. Create the Record in Salesforce
Once you're ready, click Insert/Update to push the selected prospect into Salesforce.

Note: Remember to switch back to your default record type to ensure the prospects are pushed in the right record type.

Why This Matters

Sales teams use Leads and Contacts differently depending on their workflows. This flexibility ensures that:

  • SDRs or BDRs can log top-of-funnel efforts as Leads.

  • AEs or AMs can push decision-makers directly as Contacts linked to Accounts.
